How to Fit Your Horn Wrap

Thanks for grabbing a set of our Bling and Speed Horn Wraps. They only take a minute to put on, watch our short video for how to get a neat, secure wrap. Step by step instructions below.

Before you start

Give your saddle horn a quick wipe with a dry cloth to get rid of any dust, dirt or grooming spray residue. A clean, dry horn helps the wrap grip its best. Each pack comes with four wraps, so you've got plenty to play with while you get the hang of it.

Fitting your horn wrap

  1. Have your wrap up the correct way. Make sure angled part of the tail end of the wrap is facing up when you start the wrap so when you finish the wrap sits flush with the base of the horn.
  2. Find your starting point. Hold the end of the wrap against the base of the horn, where the neck meets the cap. Remove the back of the sticker and stick to the horn. Remove the protective layer buy pulling the red tab.

  3. Start wrapping. Bring the wrap around the neck of the horn, stretching it gently as you go. That little bit of stretch is what makes it grip and lock onto itself, so keep a nice even tension.

  4. Overlap as you go. Each time you come around, overlap the layer below by about a third to a half. This keeps it neat, closes up any gaps and builds up that lovely grip.

  5. Work your way up and over. Keep wrapping up the neck and mould it around the shape of the horn cap, following the curves so it sits snug, then back down again to the bottom.
  6. Finish it off. Pull the small white sticker backing from the Bling and Speed finishing tape and stick to the tail of the wrap. The pull to remaining sicker off the finishing tape. Make sure Bling and Speed is up the right way then wrap around the base of you horn to hold the wrap in place.

  7. Give it a squeeze. Run your hand over the whole thing and give it a firm press all over to help the layers bond together.

Handy tips

  • The more you stretch it as you wrap, the firmer and grippier the hold.
  • If it isn't sitting how you like, just unwrap and go again – there's no sticky residue and it won't mark your horn.
  • Feeling it loosen after a lot of use? Unwrap and rewrap with a touch more stretch to freshen up the grip.
  • Want to change your look? Swap colours whenever you feel like it, or match your wrap to your saddle pad, tack set or your horse.

Caring for your horn wrap

Try not to leave it the wraps that aren't on your horse sitting in extreme heat, like on the dash of a hot car, so it keeps its stretch and grip. When you're ready for a change, it peels straight off clean.
